In light of concerns about COVID-19, all VHG classes will be held virtually, with live instructors, until restrictions are lifted.

Visionary Health Group Consulting offers educational and preparatory courses for medical billing, coding and insurance professionals on a variety of topics, including ICD-10, Medicaid, insurance/reimbursement, and more. Courses include Professional Medical Coding Curriculum Preparatory Course for medical coding and billing, Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) Preparatory Course, E/M Auditing Workshop, Healthcare Insurance 101, ICD-10-CM education, as well as customized courses for a variety of audiences.

(CPC) Professional Medical Coder Certification Preparatory Course

VHG Billing and Coding Classes (1)The Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC) is geared toward learning the proficiency required to correctly code CPT®, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM for medical procedures performed by the Provider. After passing the AAPC certification exam, students with at least two years of previous work experience in the field will be recognized as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Those who have not yet gained this experience will be recognized as a Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A). Upon completion of the PMCC course, and after one year experience has been obtained, the apprentice status will be removed by the AAPC. This is not an introductory class.

    (CPB) Certified Professional Biller Certification

    VHG Billing and Coding Classes (2)Billing and coding specialists have an expansive range of opportunities for employment. The skills learned through the AAPC CPB certification are essential to hospitals, physician offices, surgery centers, nursing homes, dental offices, home healthcare agencies, mental health facilities, and even insurance companies and consulting firms. Open the door to a rewarding career path by becoming a CPB.

    Topics for 14-week course include these revenue cycle/regulatory concepts:

    • Regulatory compliance
    • Billing, claim forms
    • Account receivable (A/R) concepts, collection strategies, problem solving
    • CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS Level II coding concepts
    • Healthcare payers – federal, state, commercial and more
    • Preparation for the CPB Certification exam

    The curriculum is an overview that will require use of the following books and will also be used when taking the CPB exam: AMA CPT Professional Edition; Expert HCPCS Level II; Expert ICD-10-CM for Physicians. The books are ordered for each student and are included in the class fees. If you would like to provide your own books, please contact us with those details and fees will be adjusted accordingly.

    2023 ICD10CM/CPT/HCPCS/CMS Updates

    This program provides an update to the new, revised and deleted ICD10CM updates FY 2023, effective October 1, 2022. The CPT, HCPCS and CMS updates FY 2023 are effective January 1, 2023. An overview of the updated Official Diagnosis Coding Guidelines is also included.

    Risk Adjustment Coding Workshop - Virtual (Coming 2023!)

    Have you been wanting to learn more about Hierarchical Category Coding (HCC) or gain more knowledge of Risk Adjustment? Or have you considered becoming a Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) through the AAPC? If so, this 2-day workshop is for you! You will learn the principles of HCC and Risk Adjustment coding.

    Note: The course for preparing for the CRC examination for the credential CRC is listed below.

    (CPMA) Certified Professional Medical Auditor (Coming 2023!)

    This 8-week course, designed for the experienced coder, provides training for the multifaceted components of medical auditing. The CPMA course covers medical record standards and documentation guidelines, coding and documentation compliance, coding and reimbursement concepts, audit scope and statistical sampling methods, medical record audit abstraction, and category risk analysis and communication. A minimum of two years coding experience and CPC or CCS certification is required to take this course.

    (CRC) Certified Risk Adjustment Coder Preparatory Course (Coming 2023!)

    A Certified Risk Adjustment Coder has proven by examination and experience that they know how to read a medical chart and assign the correct diagnosis (ICD-10-CM) codes for a variety of clinical cases and services for risk adjustment models. This is an 8-week course; one night per week.

    Please Note: The CRC is a core credential and as such, does not require the credential of CPC to prepare for and sit for the CRC examination.
